(Children’s) Choir Leaders Wanted! (m/f/d)
As part of our educational programme SING!, we are looking for several children’s choir leaders to direct children’s choirs and teacher training sessions at participating primary schools, as well as to deliver educational outreach within the SING! programme. Apply now by 15 December 2025!
The Rundfunkchor Berlin is one of the world’s most renowned professional choirs. The three-time Grammy winner is a highly sought-after and award-winning ensemble, partnering with the most prestigious orchestras and conductors. Through exceptional concert projects, innovative performance formats and its educational work, the choir sets standards in national and international musical life. The Principal Conductor is Gijs Leenaars.
With the educational programme SING!, the choir aims to introduce children and educators to the art of singing and to establish singing as a natural form of expression in everyday school life. Partners include Berlin primary schools, district music schools and the Landesmusikakademie Berlin. Over a three-year period, weekly SING! choirs and teacher training sessions take place at participating primary schools, ensuring a sustainable impact. In collaboration with the singers of the Rundfunkchor Berlin, professional choral practice and vocal stage culture are also conveyed.
For the direction of children’s choirs and teacher training at participating Berlin primary schools, as well as for the delivery of educational outreach within the SING! programme, we are looking for several (children’s) choir leaders (m/f/d) with immediate effect.
Your Responsibilities:
– establishing and leading two to three children’s choirs weekly at one or more participating primary schools, based on the music education concept of SING
– leading a weekly teacher training session for teachers at the partner primary school(s)
– preparing and rehearsing multilingual songs
– creating digital music education resources for SING! schools
– planning, organising and conducting school singing events and concerts
– communication with the project management and involved partners
– participation in regularly scheduled team meetings and workshops
– regular oral and written reporting
– participation in intervision coaching sessions and internal evaluation
What We Offer:
– payment on a freelance basis, with a scope per school year of: 3–4 hours weekly teaching at a primary school, plus approximately 4 additional hours per week for project and outreach work within the SING! educational programme

Your Profile:
– completed degree in (children’s) choir conducting, elementary music education, vocal pedagogy (specifically children’s voice training), school music (preferably primary level) or comparable qualifications
– trained singing voice (through degree studies or private voice lessons); confident handling of children’s vocal range
– several years of experience in children’s choir direction and pedagogical adult education
– good piano skills
– knowledge of the JEKISS method is desirable; willingness to undertake further training is expected
– enthusiasm for working with primary school-age children, singing and music education is essential
– independence, reliability and good communication skills
– teamwork abilities
– excellent written and spoken German
