RundfunkchorLounge 26/27 »Let’s Talk About Sex«
On Desire, Love and Taboos
For his final season as Chief Conductor of the Rundfunkchor Berlin, Gijs Leenaars is seizing the opportunity to talk about something we might otherwise prefer not to dwell on: sex. But there’s really no need for embarrassment – after all, the subject touches on humanity in one form or another, universally. Expert discussions will explore the topic from various fascinating perspectives, interspersed with choral and chamber music interludes.
From Song of Songs to Opera Arias
And while composers may not have been quite so explicit in their conversations, the theme of sex has certainly not bypassed music. Just think of the countless thousands of opera arias written with more or less explicit content… Musically, the second RundfunkchorLounge of the season promises a richly varied programme, featuring works such as »Le cantique des cantiques«, Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur’s twelve-voice setting of the »Sog of Songs.«
After the main musical and thematic programme, you’re warmly invited to stay on and round off the evening at the Heimathafen bar with relaxed lounge music.
