Requiem d-Moll KV 626
für Soli, Chor und Orchester
Mozart meets breaking and hip-hop – the Rundfunkchor Berlin simply loves the challenge of something new! What caused quite a stir in Berlin’s musical world during the anniversary year is now being revived. On a new stage with double the audience capacity, »Flying Mozart« makes its debut at the Tempodrom Berlin, an arena where the acrobatic dance sequences of the Flying Steps and the sonic excellence of the choir and the Deutsche Streicherphilharmonie can truly shine.
Mozart’s Requiem, conducted by Gijs Leenaars, is interwoven and reimagined with brilliantly crafted hip-hop pieces by Ketan and Vivan Bhatti, allowing Vartan Bassil’s choreography to unfold to its full potential. The result is something entirely new: a spectacle of music, dance, light, and video; a narrative addressing the great questions of our time – fears for the future, war, and climate change. But within every ending – and a requiem is, after all, a mass for the dead – lies a new beginning, and with it the hope for a new, better world.
The Tempodrom at Anhalter Bahnhof is one of the most striking event and concert venues in the heart of Berlin, impressing visitors with its iconic tent-like architecture made of concrete and glass. Beneath its high roof, it combines a large and small arena as well as other flexible spaces where concerts, comedy shows, performances, musicals, circus productions, conferences, and corporate events take place. With its central location, adaptable layout, and a diverse year-round program, the Tempodrom attracts a wide range of audiences who appreciate the special atmosphere of this extraordinary venue.
