Sing-Along Concert on Tour

Rundfunkchor Berlin takes the Sing-Along Concert on its travels abroad. Aficionados of singing come together in the great concert halls of the world to prepare a symphonic-choral work together with the professionals. In 2019, the destination will be Barcelona.

Giuseppe Verdi’s »Messa da Requiem« with Simon Halsey

May 30th until June 1st 2019 in Barcelona

In 2010, the Sing-Along Concert travelled to the Aspendos Festival in Turkey. In 2014, the first »big« Sing-Along Concert on tour took place in one of Europe’s leading cultural centres, Budapest. It was a great success, and in 2016 was followed up with Schubert’s Mass in E flat at the Vienna Konzerthaus and in 2018 with Handel’s Messiah in the new Paris Philharmonie.

In 2019 the destination will be the Catalan metropolis Barcelona – to be precise, the Palau de la Música Catalana, one of the most original and beautiful concert halls in the world. The art nouveau jewel was built between 1905 and 1908 for the choir Orfeó Català, and so the large hall seating an audience of 2,000 is ideally suited to choral music. The program of the sing-along concert comprises Verdi’s »Messa da Requiem«, and as always the musical direction will be in the safe hands of our honorary conductor Simon Halsey, who invented the format during his years as our head conductor. At present, he is not only choral director of the London Symphony Orchestra but also director of the choir Orfeó Català and artistic advisor at the Palau de la Música Català.

To ensure an attractive accompanying program, again the Rundfunkchor Berlin will be taking on board its experienced partner Interkultur, the world-leading organisers of international choral competitions.
