Young Wook Kim
Baritone Young Wook Kim was born in Daegu, South Korea. He first studied at Seoul National University with Philip Kang, later becoming his assistant, and continued his training at the conservatoires in Mannheim with Rudolf Piernay and in Dresden with Jürgen Hartfiel.
Equally at home on the opera and concert stage, he has sung Renato in Verdi’s »Un ballo in maschera«, Germont in »La Traviata« and the title roles in Mozart’s »Don Giovanni« and Puccini’s »Gianni Schicci«. As an oratorio soloist he has appeared in Haydn’s »Die Schöpfung», Janáček’s »Glagolitic Mass«, Handel’s »Messiah« and Dvořák’s »Te Deum«.
Young Wook Kim has been a permanent member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin since 2009.
