Sabine Puhlmann
Born in Frankfurt am Main, soprano Sabine Puhlmann first studied German studies and music education with a major in violin in Mainz. She then completed her vocal studies at the Hochschule für Musik Leipzig with Hans-Joachim Beyer and continued her training with Ruthild Engert in Berlin. After several years of singing with Collegium Vocale Gent she became a permanent member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin in 1999.
She is regularly entrusted with solo roles, working under conductors such as Michael Gielen, Marek Janowski, Vladimir Jurowski, Philippe Herreweghe, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano and Sir Simon Rattle. Contemporary music is a particular focus of hers; highlights include the European premiere of Matthias Pintscher’s »with lilies white« under Kent Nagano in Berlin and Dortmund. In May 2015 she sang the first soprano part in Christian Jost’s »Hölderlin« in the Rundfunkchor Berlin’s »Liberté« project, and in September 2015 she appeared with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin under Marek Janowski in Carl Nielsen’s Third Symphony.
