Robert Franke, Sänger im Rundfunkchor Berlin (Tenor)

Robert Franke, originally from Cottbus, first made his way in music as a trombonist before turning to singing. He received his earliest musical training from his father, Joachim Franke, a trombonist with the Dresden Philharmonic, and from 1994 studied with Manfred Zeumer, principal trombone of the Staatskapelle Dresden, at the city’s specialist music school. In 1996 he won first prize in ensemble performance at the national »Jugend musiziert« competition. From 1996 to 2002 he studied at the Hochschule für Musik Dresden and performed as an extra with both the Dresden Philharmonic and the Staatskapelle Dresden, before taking up the position of principal trombone with the orchestra of the Landesbühnen Sachsen in 2002.

In 2005 Robert Franke began private singing lessons with Jörg Hempel in Dresden and later went on to study with Elisabeth Werres in Berlin. Since 2008 he has been a permanent member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin.
