Mathis Koch
Harpist and bass-baritone Mathis Koch grew up in a musical family in Herford, began harp lessons at the age of seven and soon gained wide-ranging choral experience. He studied harp with Godelieve Schrama and voice with Heiner Eckels, Lars Woldt, Mario Zeffiri and Manuel Lange at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold.
He has sung under conductors such as Frieder Bernius and Robin Ticciati and is an enthusiastic ensemble singer, performing with groups including Seicento vocale and eˈnıgma. Operatic appearances have included Háraschta in Janáček’s »The Cunning Little Vixen«, Jupiter in Offenbach’s »Orphée aux enfers« and both the Commendatore and Masetto in Mozart’s »Don Giovanni«.
After taking part in the Rundfunkchor Berlin Academy in 2016/17, he joined the choir as a permanent member in the 2017/18 season and continues to appear as an oratorio and concert soloist.
