Judith Simonis, Altistin im Rundfunkchor Berlin

Mezzo-soprano Judith Marks-Simonis studied singing at the Hochschule für Musik Trossingen before continuing her training at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler, where she specialised in opera and concert repertoire with Anneliese Fried. In 2002 she was awarded a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Association in Berlin, and in 2004 she won a prize at the International Singing Competition of the Chamber Opera Schloss Rheinsberg.

While still a student she appeared at major concert venues in works such as Mozart’s »Requiem«, Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s »Elijah« and »Lobgesang«, as well as in cantatas by Bach. Guest engagements have taken her to the Theater am Ring in Villingen-Schwenningen and Theater Magdeburg, to festivals in Avignon and Edinburgh, and to Paris, Lille, Antwerp and the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York.

Judith Simonis has been a member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin since 2004.
