Judith Engel, Sängerin im Rundfunkchor Berlin (Sopran)

Judith Engel studied voice at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin from 1985 to 1992. In 1993, alongside her freelance work as a soloist and in smaller ensembles, she began working with the Rundfunkchor Berlin as an extra, before joining the ensemble on a permanent basis in 1998.

Within the choir’s concerts she has appeared as a soloist under conductors including Marek Janowski, Robin Gritton, Claudio Abbado, Kent Nagano, Sir Simon Rattle, Jeffrey Tate and Matthias Pintscher.

For many years, Judith Engel has been actively involved in representing her colleagues in various voluntary roles. As the choir’s first soprano mentor she played a key part in establishing the Academny, and since 2019 she has also served on the ensemble’s board.
