Jin Kim

The South Korean soprano Jin Kim began vocal studies at the age of 14. She first studied at Hanyang University in Seoul, then at the Hochschule für Musik in Nuremberg with Siegfried Jerusalem, and specialised in Baroque singing with Elisabeth Scholl. She complemented her excellent degree with masterclasses given by Helmut Deutsch, Jochen Kowalski and Andreas Scholl.

Her passion for choral singing led her to an internship with the MDR Rundfunkchor and to regular deputy work with the RIAS Kammerchor and the Rundfunkchor Berlin. She has performed with the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin and Capella de la Torre under conductors such as René Jacobs, Sir Simon Rattle and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, and has toured extensively with various choirs and ensembles throughout Europe, Australia, Japan and the USA.

On the opera stage she has appeared as Donna Anna in Mozart’s »Don Giovanni«, Giulietta in Donizetti’s »I Capuleti e i Montecchi« and the Second Fairy in Purcell’s »The Fairy Queen«. She also remains active as a concert soloist and is regularly heard in Nuremberg and Berlin.
