David Stingl
Born in Bühl (Baden), David Stingl first studied music education with piano as his main subject at the Hochschule für Musik Freiburg, before switching to voice studies with Towako Sato-Schöllhorn and song interpretation with Ramón Walter. He went on to complete postgraduate studies with Thomas Quasthoff at the Hochschule für Musik Detmold and received further important impulses in masterclasses with, among others, Arthur Janzen and Rudolf Piernay; he currently works with Berthold Schmid in Leipzig.
Alongside his vocal work he has also been active in contemporary and electronic music, including at the Institute for New Music in Freiburg and at the SWR Experimentalstudio. In 1994 he won first prize in the voice category of the German national music education competition in Zwickau, and in the 1999/2000 season he sang with the Bavarian Radio Chorus.
David Stingl has been a member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin since 2002 and also appears as a soloist, for example in the 2007 performance of John Tavener’s »The Veil of the Temple« at the Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin.
