Christine Lichtenberg, Sängerin im Rundfunkchor Berlin (Alt)

Christine Lichtenberg was born in Würzburg and received her first singing lessons from the Hamburg-based alto Brigitte Teichert. She initially studied Romance languages before turning to voice, training with Tuula Nienstedt in Hamburg; formative influences also came from working with Jutta Schlegel and Ruthild Engert in Berlin and from masterclasses with Michel Piquemal in France.

She went on to sing with renowned ensembles including the RIAS Kammerchor, Collegium Vocale Gent, Vocalconsort Berlin and the radio choirs of NDR and MDR, before joining the Rundfunkchor Berlin as a permanent member in 2004. Since then she has regularly taken on solo roles in concerts with the Berliner Philharmoniker, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin and the Akademie für Alte Musik.

Her wide-ranging solo work also includes song recitals in Germany and abroad (including Los Angeles, Vienna, Berlin and Hamburg), church music, world premieres, staged projects, education programmes for children, as well as numerous radio and CD recordings. In December 2020 she appeared as a soloist in the »Virtual Messiah« project of the Bangkok Combined Choir, marking her first collaboration with Thai musicians. With her ensemble triunúri she explores Sephardic, Yiddish and Southern European repertoire. She has also gained operatic experience at the Staatsoper Berlin, the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
