Catherine Hense

Catherine Hense was born in Ludwigslust in 1963 and grew up in Berlin. She began taking piano lessons at the Friedrichshain Music School at the age of seven and joined the Sing-Akademie Berlin (East) at 15 under Dietrich Knothe, while also taking singing lessons at the Berlin-Mitte Music School. After studying primary school teaching she intensified her vocal training and worked for a year in the »International Music Exchange« department of GDR radio. Following a successful aptitude examination at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler Berlin, she began vocal studies there with Dr Friedrich Eckardt.

She has been a permanent member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin since 1988.
