Bettina Pieck
Born in Plettenberg (North Rhine-Westphalia), Bettina Pieck first studied Protestant church music at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold, completing the prestigious A exam in church music in 1996. She then went on to study singing with Heiner Eckels in Detmold, graduating with top marks in her artistic diploma, further refining her skills in a number of masterclasses.
From 1996 to 2002 she served as full-time cantor of the Protestant parish of Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock in North Rhine-Westphalia, before joining the Rundfunkchor Berlin as a permanent ensemble member in 2002. She performs widely as a song and oratorio soloist and has appeared with the Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Concerto Köln, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, l’arte del mondo, the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the Neue Philharmonie Westfalen and the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie. Concert tours have taken her to major European centres as well as North and South America, Australia and Asia, and she has participated in numerous radio and CD productions.
Deeply committed to nurturing young singers, Bettina Pieck teaches and mentors the low alto voices in the Rundfunkchor Berlin’s Academy. Her work with the soloists of the Bachchor and the Choralsingschule Gütersloh has repeatedly produced first-prize winners at the »Jugend musiziert« competition at regional, state and national level, and several of her pupils now hold positions at opera houses and in professional vocal ensembles.
In the RundfunkchorLounges and in concerts with the Schola of the Rundfunkchor Berlin, she also appears regularly as organist and basso continuo player.
