The Berlin-born soprano Barbara Berg studied singing with Julie Kaufmann at the Berlin University of the Arts, graduating with degrees in both opera and concert/oratorio. Her training was further enriched by masterclasses with René Jacobs, Krisztina Láki, Sylvia Geszty, Axel Bauni and Barbara Bonney.

After her studies she initially worked as a freelance singer before taking up a permanent position with the Rundfunkchor Berlin in 2008, where she frequently appears as a soloist, including in Christian Jost’s »Angst« at the Komische Oper Berlin, in Mozart’s »Idomeneo« at the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and in Peter Sellar’s staged version of Bach’s »St Matthew Passion«.

Alongside her position with the choir, Barbara Berg is in demand as a versatile concert soloist. In her home city of Berlin she can be heard in concerts at the Berlin Cathedral, the Konzerthaus and the Philharmonie. She also performs across Germany and abroad – for example as Frasquita in Bizet’s »Carmen« in a concert performance with the Simón Bolívar Youth Orchestra under Sir Simon Rattle in Caracas, Venezuela, in summer 2010. She has appeared several times as a soloist with the Berliner Philharmoniker in works by Schönberg and Berio.
