Annerose Hummel

Annerose Hummel, Sängerin im Rundfunkchor Berlin (Alt)

The Mannheim-born mezzo-soprano Annerose Hummel studied at the conservatoires in Frankfurt and Mannheim (Opera School) and completed her concert exam at the University of Mainz. She went on to refine her artistry in masterclasses with Sylvia Geszty, Kurt Widmer, Rudolf Piernay, Ruth Ziesak, Ulrich Eisenlohr, Ingeborg Danz (Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart), Claudia Eder and Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau.

She was a prizewinner at the Erika Köth Meistersinger Competition, a finalist in the Bundeswettbewerb Gesang (opera category) and a scholarship holder of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, the Richard Wagner Association and the German Stage Association. In 2006 she received the Mainzer Theaterkultur Foundation’s award for her interpretation of Wagner’s »Wesendonck-Lieder«.

As a soloist she has appeared at the theatres in Gießen, Baden-Baden and Mannheim, at the Staatsoper and Staatstheater Stuttgart and at the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, and she continues to perform regularly in concert, including at the Zeitgenössische Oper Berlin in 2010. Choral singing has been a central part of her musical life since her student days: she sang regularly with the SWR Vokalensemble and was a member of the Kammerchor Stuttgart under Frieder Bernius from 1995 to 1999. She can be heard as Priamwada on his 2008 Carus recording of the first complete performance of Schubert’s opera »Sakontala«.

Annerose Hummel has been a permanent member of the Rundfunkchor Berlin since 2008.
