Sascha Glintenkamp

Born in Hanau, near Frankfurt am Main, Sascha Glintenkamp studied music education at the Frankfurt Musikhochschule, specializing in piano, as well as German language and literature at that city’s Goethe University. During his studies, he gained his first experience as a singer at the Frankfurt Schauspiel in productions of Antigone and Faust, parts I and II, by the Berlin directing duo of Robert Schuster and Tom Kühnel, also appearing in various university productions. His professional voice training came in a further course of study – vocal pedagogy – with Berthold Possemeyer and Franziska Schäfer-Vondru.

There, along with solo appearances, ensemble and choral singing assumed an important role in Glintenkamp’s performing activities. He sang in works scored for few voices (Britten’s Curlew River and Furrer’s Die Blinden at the Frankfurt Opera), in chamber choirs (the Rastatt Vocal Ensemble, Nordic Chamber Choir, South German Chamber Chorus and the Anton Webern Chorus of Freiburg) and in the Frankfurt Opera Chorus. Upon completing his studies in 2006, he began making solo appearances in the song and oratorio repertoires, as well as in stage roles at Wiesbaden and Frankfurt (Flemish Deputy in Don Carlos, Mephistopheles and Leporello in Frankfurt Opera’s “Workshop for Children”).

Besides his singing activities, his other main interests include working with choirs as conductor and vocal coach as well as arranging pieces for different combinations.

Since 2008 Sascha Glintenkamp has sung second bass as a permanent member of Rundfunkchor Berlin.
