
Born in Plettenberg (North Rhine-Westphalia), Bettina Pieck studied Lutheran church music at the Detmold Musikhochschule and in 1996 passed the church music A-exam. Following that she pursued vocal studies in Detmold with Prof. Heiner Eckels and graduated with distinction. Her training was rounded off by masterclasses with Ingeborg Danz and Thomas Quasthoff.
From 1996 to 2002 Pieck was full-time cantor of the Lutheran congregation of Schloss Holte-Stukenbrock, while also performing in concert as a lieder and oratorio singer, with solo appearances under conductors including Marek Janowski, Tonu Kaljuste, Uwe Gronostay and Simon Halsey in Berlin’s Philharmonie and Konzerthaus. Concert tours took her to France, Belgium, Sweden, The Netherlands and Brazil, and she also participated in numerous radio and CD productions. Pieck teaches singing at the music academy of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and serves as choral director and vocal trainer at the choral-singing school in Gütersloh.
Bettina Pieck as been a member of Rundfunkchor Berlin since 2002.
