Choir assistance

Nicolas Fink has been assistant choirmaster of Rundfunkchor Berlin since 1 February 2010. The young conductor from Bern caught Simon Halsey’s attention in 2005 at the Eric Ericson masterclass in Haarlem. In 2006 Halsey brought him to Berlin to prepare Christian Jost’s Angst. Regular re-invitations followed for works including Bernstein’s Third Symphony, John Adams’s Transmigration of Souls and Humperdinck’s Königskinder.

After training as a choral conductor, singer and choir répétiteur in Lucerne, Fink was a conducting fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center under Bernard Haitink and James Levine. He has conducted several choirs of his own in Switzerland and also taken over concert preparation for the Hilversum Radio Chorus in the Netherlands and the WDR Rundfunkchor in Germany. Most recently he served as assistant musical director at Stuttgart’s Palladium Theatre.
